Africa-Press – Eswatini. Trail runners, nature lovers, and community champions mark your calendars! The Imvelo Trail Run that is hosted by the big game park is back for its 20th edition, taking place once again in the heart of Eswatini’s beloved Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary on the 7th of June 2025.
Set against the breathtaking backdrop of the reserve’s rolling hills and diverse wildlife, the Imvelo Trail Run is not just a race, it’s an experience. From seasoned athletes to casual joggers and nature walkers, participants of all levels come together for a day of adventure on some of the most scenic trails in the region.
The event will offer distances like 12.5 km with a registration fee of E 240.00, 22km for E 280.00, 35km for E 400, and a 65km at a fee of E 460.00.
As a not-for-profit initiative, all proceeds from the race go toward uplifting communities surrounding Mlilwane. Over the past 20 years, and thanks to the unwavering support of the main sponsor Nedbank, Imvelo has helped fund a range of impactful projects, from infrastructure improvements to education support.
Speaking to this publication the marketing and sales manager of big game park, Xolani Gama, stated that the event is not for profits but goes back to community. “The event is not for profits, the money that is generated is used to fund or sponsor communities around us.” Said Gama “This year the imvelo race will assist in building a pre-school in the Hlabazonke area which lies in the Northern side of Mlilwane Game Sanctuary. The structure will include classrooms and a kitchen for the children who are currently using a church building.” Added Gama.
The Imvelo Trail Run has always been about more than personal bests and finish lines. It’s about running with purpose and connecting with nature while giving back to the communities who call it home.
The imvelo Trail Run invites everyone to attend the fun, and to be part of something meaningful this year. Whether as a participant through the reserve or to cheer from the sidelines, everyone’s presence makes a difference.
