Africa-Press – Eswatini. Japan’s Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba has articulated a strong commitment to bolster economic ties with the Kingdom of Eswatini, aiming to attract Japanese investors and tourists to the Kingdom.
This declaration was made during a bilateral meeting with Eswatini’s Prime Minister Russell Dlamini at the Prime Minister’s office in Tokyo, marking a pivotal moment in the relationship between the two countries.
Prime Minister Ishiba underscored the potential of Eswatini as a promising destination for Japanese investment, citing the country’s stable political environment as a major advantage.
“Eswatini offers a unique blend of stability and opportunity, making it an attractive prospect for Japanese businesses looking to expand their footprint in Africa,” he stated.
The Japanese leader also highlighted the breathtaking landscapes and rich cultural heritage of Eswatini, which he believes could serve as a significant draw for Japanese tourists seeking new experiences.
The meeting not only focused on investment and tourism but also aimed at deepening the existing bilateral cooperation between Japan and Eswatini.
Prime Minister Ishiba expressed Japan’s readiness to enhance collaboration in various sectors, including infrastructure, agriculture, and technology, areas where Japan has considerable expertise and experience.
In a gesture of goodwill and partnership, Prime Minister Ishiba extended an invitation to Eswatini to participate in the upcoming 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9), scheduled for August this year.

In response to the Japanese Prime Minister’s overtures, Prime Minister Dlamini reaffirmed Eswatini’s commitment to strengthening its ties with Japan.
He acknowledged the shared values between the two nations, emphasizing the importance of mutual respect and cooperation.
“We are grateful for Japan’s ongoing support in various sectors through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), which has played a crucial role in our development journey,” he remarked.
Dlamini also took the opportunity to express appreciation for the long-standing contributions of Japanese companies to Eswatini’s economy,
specifically highlighting the 50-year presence of YKK, a leading zipper manufacturer.
He welcomed the prospect of further investment and partnership in other business areas, indicating a strong desire for diversification in economic collaboration.
