Africa-Press – Eswatini. Born and raised in Nkwalini, Mbabane, Sakhile Dlamini, known in music circles as Mazozo, is one of Eswatini’s rising house music producers and DJs, bringing his unique blend of Afro House, Techno, and soul to the fore.

From a young age, Mazozo was immersed in music. Growing up in an environment dominated by dance music set the stage for his artistic journey. But it was a single song, “African Siren” by Da Capo, that truly sparked his deep love for house music. “That track was the catalyst that drew me in even more,” he says, reflecting on how a single moment of inspiration shaped his path.

Mazozo’s influences are broad, stretching across genres and continents. He credits names like Keinemusik, Da Capo, and Anderson.Paak for shaping his creative vision. But his earliest spark came even closer to home: “I had a brother and a couple of friends who were already into music production. Listening to their productions and witnessing their creative process sparked my interest. Being surrounded by music from a young age also played a significant role.”

His style today is unmistakably his own, a fusion of techno’s driving beats, Afro House’s infectious rhythms, and a soulful touch that gives it depth and emotional resonance. “Having an interest in music experimentation and sound exploration allows me to come up with something slightly different,” he explains.

For Mazozo, the magic lies in the creative process itself. “The production or composition process makes the whole thing special,” he says. “The ability to bring an idea to life, or to develop an idea into a complete song in different and infinite creative ways.” It’s this love for building soundscapes that translates into music listeners can feel, not just hear.

He also emphasizes the power of connection: “When I see people resonating with and relating to my music, knowing that my songs can evoke certain emotions, that’s incredibly rewarding.”

Mazozo is optimistic about the future of house music. He sees it as an evolving art form that constantly redefines itself. “The house music scene is constantly evolving and it will continue to fuse or blend various genres. This will obviously continue giving birth to new subgenres both in mainstream and underground club scenes.”

For those eager to explore his sound, Mazozo’s music is available on all major Digital Service Providers. “Primarily on Spotify, Apple Music. Also on YouTube,” he notes, making it easy for listeners worldwide to experience the Eswatini-born producer’s distinctive sonic signature.

As he continues to experiment and push boundaries, Mazozo is proving that the kingdom of Eswatini has a vital voice in the global house music conversation, one that blends roots, soul, and innovation into every beat.
