TABANKULU CELTICS PREPARE FOR MTN PREMIER LEAGUE DEBUT

Africa-Press – Eswatini. As the newly promoted Tabankulu Celtics prepare for their debut season in the MTN Premier League, Coach Percy Shongwe has offered much-needed clarity amid swirling rumors concerning the club’s transfer activities and future plans. At the center of recent speculation is the potential signing of Mbabane Swallows’ quick-footed forward Bongi ‘Karas’ Magagula, a player widely regarded as one of the league’s most promising talents.

Speaking exclusively, Shongwe confirmed that while nothing is officially sealed regarding Karas ongoing discussions with relevant parties are underway. “We are very much engaged in talks,” he said, “but at this stage, there is nothing confirmed about Bongi joining us.” He emphasized the club’s targeted approach to recruitment “Our focus is on bringing young, talented players who are hungry to play, eager to grow, and ready to represent Tabankulu Celtics with pride.”

However, Karas is not the sole target in the club’s eye. The coach revealed that negotiations with other local clubs are also active, as Celtics aim to strengthen their squad by acquiring promising local talents. This aligns closely with the club chairman’s clear directive to build a team capable of competing at the highest level while demonstrating professionalism and high-quality football.

Shongwe expressed confidence that the management’s trust in his leadership and technical team would be the foundation for achieving success. “We don’t just come as newcomers; we ha come to rewrite history,” he announced with conviction. When asked how the team intends to rewrite history, Shongwe outlined lofty objectives aiming to secure at least one major trophy this season whether it be the Trade Fair Cup or the Ingwenyama Cup, alongside finishing within the league’s top four.

Regarding circulating rumors about a possible coaching change, Shongwe was quick to dismiss any notion that his role is under threat. “The chairman has assured me that I will remain as head coach,” he affirmed. “I have been given the go-ahead to appoint my own technical team, and we plan to empower young coaches to showcase their abilities. We will make any official announcements through the proper communication channels in due course.”

As Tabankulu Celtics gear up for their upcoming top-flight campaign, it is clear that Shongwe’s vision and the club’s strategic signings will be pivotal in carving out their place in Eswatini football history fans will be watching closely as the story unfolds.
