Africa-Press – Eswatini. Empowering businesses to build safer, compliant, sustainable operations with practical SHEQ solutions.
When Londiwe Nel founded Lisakhaya Consulting, it wasn’t just a business move—it was a mission rooted in purpose, empathy, and the belief that safety is more than a requirement; it’s a right.
At 27 years old, Londiwe is already a qualified Safety, Health, Environment, Risk, and Quality (SHEQ) practitioner with over five years of experience. But behind the certifications and checklists is a professional, and person driven by a deep commitment to protecting people and empowering businesses.
“I’ve always valued structure, purpose, and protection, not just for myself, but for others,” she explains. “I chose SHEQ because I saw the real, everyday impact safety and quality have on people’s lives. It’s not just about ticking boxes or avoiding fines. To me, it’s about dignity, wellbeing, and creating workplaces where people feel valued and protected.”
Lisakhaya Consulting was born out of both passion and frustration. Nel saw so many small businesses struggling to meet compliance standards, not because they didn’t care, but because they lacked access to the right support. She wanted to create a service that speaks their language, works within their budgets, and empowers them to grow with confidence.
“But I also realized that safety and compliance don’t exist in isolation, they reflect directly on a company’s brand image,” she says. “A business that is compliant, professional, and safety-conscious earns more trust from clients and stakeholders. That’s why Lisakhaya doesn’t just offer SHEQ services. We also support businesses in strengthening their brand through marketing and visibility.”
Lisakhaya Consulting helps clients with promotions, campaigns, marketing strategies, branding and design, and even promotional items, making sure they project excellence both internally and externally.
“The name Lisakhaya reflects that mission. It’s about building strong, safe foundations at home, in our businesses, and across the communities we serve.”
Running her own consultancy has tested and strengthened Nel in unexpected ways. She describes the experience as one of constant growth:
“It’s taught me resilience on a whole new level. I’ve become more solution-driven, patient, and confident in my voice. Professionally, I’ve learned to balance technical expertise with emotional intelligence. As a person, I’ve realized that impact doesn’t come from big offices or big teams, but from consistency, your heart, and the courage to show up even when it’s hard.”
One of her proudest moments came while working with a local construction team that had never had formal SHEQ support before:
“We delivered a full safety management system, including document preparation and training. Watching their transformation, from uncertainty to confidence and genuine pride, was powerful. When clients refer us not just for compliance but because they trust the brand and the heart behind it, that’s everything. It shows this work matters, not just on paper, but in people’s lives.”
Nel is especially passionate about making safety accessible in industries that are often overlooked or under-resourced. She notes that in many sectors, safety is wrongly viewed as an expense rather than an investment.
“People are focused on surviving day-to-day. Safety feels like a luxury. But one accident can cost far more than investing in training or compliance. There’s also a lack of accessible, relatable education about safety, and that’s where Lisakhaya plays an important role.”
Beyond consulting, Nel is committed to supporting small businesses and youth-led initiatives. She understands their challenges because she’s faced them herself.
“I know what it’s like to have big dreams and limited resources. Small businesses are the backbone of our economy. When we empower them, we create waves of safety, success, and sustainability in entire communities.”
For those starting out, her advice is both simple and powerful:
“Start small, but start smart. You don’t need everything at once, but you do need a mindset that puts people first. Do your toolbox talks. Get basic PPE. Keep your site tidy. Most importantly, seek help. Don’t wait for a tragedy to take safety seriously, build it into your culture from day one. It will save you money, build your reputation, and protect your most valuable asset: your people.”
Through Lisakhaya Consulting, Nel is proving that real change doesn’t have to be loud or grandiose. It can start with a conversation, a training session, a simple safety file, and grow into safer, stronger, and more resilient businesses and communities.
Safety. Strategy. Success. For Nel and Lisakhaya, these aren’t just words, they’re a promise.
