Africa-Press – Eswatini. 10 -year-old Amahle Simelane is smiling again after a successful leg operation at Mbabane Government Hospital, bringing hope of a brighter, more active childhood.
Amahle, who has endured severe pain and difficulty walking due to rickets since the age of two, caught the attention of Social Welfare Officers in Siphofaneni earlier this month. They quickly referred her case to Deputy Prime Minister Thulisile Dladla, who immediately reached out for assistance.
Answering the call, His Excellency Jeremy Liang, Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan), engaged the Taiwan Medical Mission. Their specialists confirmed that the life-changing surgery could be performed locally. Yesterday, orthopedic surgeons Dr. Shin Neng Chuan and Dr. Simelane successfully carried out the operation.
Visiting Amahle at the hospital today, Deputy Prime Minister Dladla expressed deep gratitude to Ambassador Liang and the medical team.
“We are happy that she has been given a new life,” she said warmly. “In a few months, we hope to see Amahle running and attending school like other children.”
To support her recovery, the Taiwan Embassy has pledged a wheelchair donation, while the DPM’s Office will provide a warm blanket.
This compassionate collaboration highlights the power of partnerships in transforming lives and ensuring that no child is left behind.
