Africa-Press – Eswatini. A total of 2 023 people from 467 households received food assistance in Shewula under Lomahasha constituency on August 28, 2025, in a joint operation by World Vision Eswatini and the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA).
The food distribution took place during Deputy Prime Minister Senator Thulisile Dladla’s visit to Lomahasha Inkhundla, where she was officially handing over four newly constructed houses to deserving families.
The distribution, which covered Ekuthuleni, Majembeni, Edamu and Bucocantfombi, was attended by DPM Dladla and World Vision Eswatini’s new National Director, Amos Zaindi from Malawi.
Zaindi commended Eswatini’s leadership for strengthening partnerships to protect vulnerable families.“This collaboration between government and development partners ensures timely support for those most in need,” he said.
DPM Dladla echoed his remarks, urging residents to prioritise farming.“Even in Taiwan, elderly people like me are still ploughing. In Malawi, they do the same. I am pleased to see that many here also plant maize, as the fields show signs of recent harvesting,” she said.
The programme also included nutrition training, led by Bathobile Maziya of the Taiwan Africa Vegetable Initiative (TAVI), who taught residents how to grow indigenous vegetables such as imbuya and umsobo.
Lomahasha MP Zanele Mashaba added a personal note, explaining how traditional plants help maintain her health and reduce hospital visits.
The initiative shows how emergency relief can be combined with practical agricultural education, helping communities meet immediate food needs while building long-term self-sufficiency.
