ESWATINI AND ZAMBIA SIGN LANDMARK DEFENCE AGREEMENT

Africa-Press – Eswatini. Minister of Defence and Security, Senator Pholile Shakantu, and Zambia’s Minister of Defence, Honourable Ambrose Lwinji Lufuma, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on September 9, 2025, to establish the Joint Permanent Commission on Defence and Security.

The agreement marks the beginning of a strengthened partnership between the two nations, rooted in mutual trust, collaboration, and the pursuit of peace across Southern Africa. The commission will serve as a structured platform for continuous dialogue, intelligence sharing, and coordinated strategies to address regional security challenges.

Shakantu emphasized that the MOU reflects Eswatini’s commitment to contributing actively to regional stability, while Minister Lufuma hailed the partnership as a step towards building resilience against emerging threats and fostering long-term cooperation.

The establishment of this joint commission not only enhances bilateral defence relations but also signals both countries’ dedication to working together for the safety, prosperity, and peace of their people.
