MANZINI NORTH GETS ITS FAIR CHANCE IN ARMY RECRUITMENT

Africa-Press – Eswatini. Residents of Manzini North Inkhundla had their opportunity to take part in the Eswatini National Army recruitment exercise today, 07 October 2025. The vetting focused on locals, while more than 100 hopefuls from other areas were asked to return home and stay ready for future chances.

Today’s exercise tested physical fitness through a 3.2 km run. Nhlanhla Tsabedze (25) from Mnyenyweni was the first male to cross the finish line. He said he started training in early July to prepare for the challenge and polished his finishing technique.

Close behind him was Mlamuli Dlamini (23), also from Mnyenyweni. Dlamini said joining the army has long been his dream. “I have been preparing for a very long time. I have always wished to join the army so that I can protect the country and His Majesty the King,” he said. He added that he was inspired by his father and uncle, who once proudly wore the army uniform.

In the female category, Sinethemba Magagula (20) was the first woman to complete the 3.2 km race. She thanked her family for their support. “They always asked if I could do the training, and I would tell them, ‘A soldier dies at the war,’” she said. Magagula also thanked her coach, an army officer, for guiding her tirelessly despite discouragement from others. She said she would continue training even if the next recruitment happens next year.

Brigadier Sotja Dlamini commended the smooth process of the exercise. He congratulated the winners and encouraged those who did not succeed. “When one door closes, another one opens,” he said.

The Manzini North exercise is the first in a series of recruitment activities across the country. It aims to identify physically fit and disciplined candidates who will undergo further tests before officially joining the Eswatini National Arm
