Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Government of Eswatini has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to ending HIV/AIDS as a public health threat, as the Ministry of Health launched the national build-up activities for the 2025 World AIDS Day.
The event marks a renewed drive to sustain the country’s remarkable gains in the global HIV response.
Speaking during the launch on October 30, 2025, Minister of Health Hon. Mduduzi Matsebula highlighted this year’s theme, “Overcoming Disruptions, Transforming the AIDS Response,” emphasizing the challenges facing both global and national HIV programmes.
“Despite declining donor funding, rising new infections, and the increasing burden of non-communicable diseases among people living with HIV, Eswatini remains resilient,” said Minister Matsebula. “We are proud to be among the few countries worldwide to have achieved the 95-95-95 global goals, a reflection of strong political commitment, effective partnerships, and the dedication of our health workers and communities.”
The Minister further stressed the need for innovative approaches to sustain these gains. “Sustaining our progress requires us to think and act differently. We must find sustainable ways to deliver HIV services, integrate them with other health priorities, and ensure that no one is left behind,” he said.
Minister Matsebula also described World AIDS Day as more than a commemoration but a call to action. “It is a time to renew our commitment, strengthen partnerships, and transform how we approach HIV prevention, management, and care,” he added.
As the country prepares for the global commemoration on December 1, 2025, the Minister reaffirmed Eswatini’s steadfast dedication to the national HIV response. “We will continue to champion multisectoral collaboration for sustainable health outcomes, ensuring that every Eswatini citizen has access to the care and support they need,” he concluded.
The launch marks the beginning of a series of awareness campaigns and community engagements designed to mobilize support, educate the public, and reinforce Eswatini’s vision of overcoming disruptions to transform the HIV/AIDS response.
