Africa-Press – Eswatini. In this country, it is becoming a trend to treat emaSwati or workers like third class citizens, security officers had their financial budgets disorganized only to be told in the last hour that they won’t receive any salary increment this month.

Now the question is; why did Government delayed the payment of their salaries if they are not part of the civil servants who will receive the salary increment this month?.

Public Service Minister Mabulala Maseko, an known outright liar addressed journalists during a press conference saying “all civil servants will have their salaries delayed this month as Government is processing new salaries under the recently announced salary review”.

Civil servants including the police, soldiers and Correctional Services officers understood this with hopes and expectations that, they will also receive an increment this month.

But on Thursday, security officers were informed that they won’t receive their increment this month but, their increment is under review and might be processed next month-November 2025, a whole confused Government messing security officers’ lives with impunity!.

Issues involving money are sensitive because people are budgeting and therefore, you cannot just temper with workers’ pay date and then, come-up with excuses, Minister Mabulala Maseko disorganized the lives of the security officers.

What Government did is unfair to the security officers, it was wrong in first place to delay the salaries, disturb their financial budgets and then, issue disappointing statements in the last hour.

We hope Government will in the future take workers seriously and with understanding that, civil servants including security officers have budgets and financial obligations.

But in all this, the National Commissioner of Police Vusi Manoma Masango, Army Commander Moses Mashikilisane Fakudze and Correctional Services Commissioner General Phindile Dlamini must shoulder the blame, they were supposed to tell these politicians that it’s wrong to delay the salaries if the officers won’t receive the increment this month.
