MINISTER NEAL LAUNCHES 2025 FRAUD AWARENESS MONTH

Africa-Press – Eswatini. Minister of Finance, Neal Rijkenberg, has, on November 14, 2025 officially launched Eswatini’s 2025 International Fraud Awareness Month, themed: “Fraud Has No Boundaries: Guard Your Digital Wallet.”

Minister Rijkenberg highlighted that, while the country has seen a modest decline in fraud-related losses within banks and FinTech services, online fraud, e-commerce scams, and impersonation cases under the FACATA framework continue to present significant risks. He noted that as digital financial services expand, fraudsters are becoming increasingly sophisticated.

The Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to modernising financial regulations, enhancing cybersecurity, strengthening the resilience of payment systems, and fostering collaboration between banks, FinTech companies, regulators, and law enforcement agencies. He also emphasised the critical role of public awareness, noting that an informed citizen remains the strongest defence against fraud.

“Fraud prevention is a shared responsibility,” Minister Rijkenberg said. “We must question before we click, verify before we pay, and report before it is too late.”

As Eswatini observes Fraud Awareness Month, all stakeholders are encouraged to remain vigilant, work together, and uphold the integrity of the nation’s financial system.
