Africa-Press – Eswatini. Get ready to cheer for Eswatini as two of its most talented ballet dancers, Nothando Makhabya (22) and Welcome Mavoko (25), prepare to represent the nation on an exhilarating global stage!

They are set to showcase their incredible skills at the prestigious WFADS Acrobatic Rock’n’Roll World Cup, taking place in Moscow, Russia, from November 23, 2025.

This momentous event not only highlights the prowess of these emerging dancers but also signifies a major leap for Eswatini in the world of acrobatic dance. The announcement was made during an inspiring press conference at the Manzini Fitness Zone, organized by the Eswatini Federation of Acrobatic and Swing Dances (WFADS). Here, the federation unveiled the national delegation that will proudly carry the Eswatini flag, marking a historic participation in a competition known for showcasing some of the most skilled acrobatic talents from around the globe.

Happiness Banda, the federation’s president, expressed immense pride in the progress made by Eswatini’s dancers over the past two years. “This is our third international trip,” Banda stated enthusiastically. “We have previously competed in Senegal and Dubai, and now we are thrilled to send our team to Moscow. They will depart on Friday, perform on Sunday, and return home shortly after.”

Banda emphasized the importance of expanding acrobatic rock’n’roll beyond current participants, encouraging parents and schools to support this vibrant sport as a means of promoting fitness and cultural exchange among youth. “This is not just about the kids who can come here today; it’s about introducing this sport in schools. It will help our children become physically fit and open up new opportunities,” she explained passionately.

The federation views acrobatic rock’n’roll as a vehicle for cultural enrichment and international exposure. “As our athletes travel abroad, they will promote Eswatini’s culture and put our country on the map,” Banda added, her enthusiasm unmistakable.

Despite the excitement surrounding this international opportunity, the federation faces challenges, particularly in securing financial support for the team’s participation. Banda revealed that the current funding has come primarily from parents and federation executives, with no external sponsors committed. “We welcome anyone willing to support us financially or otherwise,” she appealed.

In conclusion, Banda offered heartfelt encouragement to the athletes: “Go with an open mind and remember you are representing Eswatini. Shine on that stage, knowing you have our full support!” With the nation rallying behind them, Makhabya and Mavoko are set to take the stage and make Eswatini proud on the world arena!
