Africa-Press – Eswatini. A budget suggests that, the State owned Eswatini Water Services Corporation (EWSC) has been pumping-in more money, constructing and extending the multimillion Headquarters in Ezulwini with little or no investment in providing clean water to customers.
As a result, Eswatini is facing a water crisis as the Water Services continues to supply customers with muddy water and the water crisis that erupted in Mbabane, Ezulwini, Manzini-Ngwane Park with latest reports suggesting that even Hlathikhulu is facing muddy water supply and the crisis is highly expected to spread to other areas.
But the budget seen by this publication further suggests that, Managing Director Jabulile Mashwama allegedly allocated more funds to benefit the Management through hefty salaries, over R1billion has been allocated for infrastructure development and access to water in the rural areas and urban areas despite concerns amid failure by the State owned company to provide clean water to the already existing customers.
But Mashwama’s bank accounts suggest that, “she sometimes receives suspicious money traceable back to the suppliers of the Water Services” and as a result, she has just emerged as a millionaire.
Nomahlubi Matiwane, the Eswatini Water Services Corporation Spokesperson declined to comment about supply of muddy water to the public.
Eswatini is currently facing a water crisis, emaSwati are forced to pay large amounts of money only to receive muddy water.
Reached for comments by this Swaziland News, Wandile Dludlu, the Deputy President of the People’s United Democratic Movement (PUDEMO) accused the Water Services Managing Director of investing in glassy offices and porshy cars while emaSwati drink muddy water.
“Tinkhundla disrespect Emaswati like that, water under Mashwama invest in glassy offices and porshy cars for their comfort as clients drink muddy water,” he said.
