Africa-Press – Eswatini. Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has stated that multilateralism is important in tackling today’s challenges.
The prime minister said this during his meeting with His Majesty King Mswati III yesterday.
He said he was glad to welcome His Majesty the King as well as Chair of the Gavi Board, former prime minister of Portugal and former president of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso to the Istana in separate meetings.
“His Majesty King Mswati III last visited Singapore more than six years ago.
“We had a good discussion about our two countries’ friendly ties, regional developments, and areas where we can deepen our bilateral cooperation,” he said.
The prime minister wished His Majesty an enjoyable stay in Singapore, saying they had a good exchange of views with European Commission’s Barroso on regional and global developments.
“We agreed that multilateralism was especially important to tackle today’s complex challenges.
“Singapore supports Gavi’s work and has contributed to the COVAX Facility to underline our commitment to improving access to vaccines for millions of vulnerable people around the world,” the prime minister said.
His Majesty the king is in Singapore where he was hosted by the Singapore Business Federation and Enterprise Singapore. In a seminar attended by 30 business representatives from Eswatini and 50 from Singapore His Majesty presented business opportunities available in the country.
