Africa-Press – Eswatini. Edgars Mbabane has donated clothing valued at more than E6,000 to the Eswatini Red Cross Society to support people affected by disasters across the country. The donation was officially handed over on Thursday, March 27, 2026 in Mbabane by store representative Patricia Dlamini.
The contribution forms part of a long-standing relationship between the retailer and the humanitarian organisation, which has spanned more than a decade. Over the years, the partnership has enabled the distribution of clothing to vulnerable communities across Eswatini, particularly those affected by emergencies such as fires, floods and other disasters.
The Eswatini Red Cross Society said clothing donations remain essential during disaster response, as affected families often lose their belongings and are left in urgent need of basic necessities. The organisation noted that the items will be sorted and distributed through its established relief systems to ensure they reach the most affected communities.
The organisation further explained that beyond emergency response, such contributions also support ongoing community initiatives aimed at assisting vulnerable households. These include families facing poverty and those in need of basic clothing support in both urban and rural areas. Access to proper clothing, the Red Cross said, plays an important role in restoring dignity and improving the daily lives of beneficiaries.
Speaking during the handover, Dlamini said the company remains committed to supporting humanitarian efforts and giving back to the community. She noted that working with the Red Cross ensures that donations are distributed efficiently and reach those who need them most.
The Red Cross expressed appreciation for the continued support from the private sector, noting that such partnerships are important in sustaining humanitarian operations. The organisation encouraged more companies to contribute towards disaster relief efforts, especially as communities continue to face recurring challenges.
