Africa-Press – Eswatini. His Majesty King Mswati III on 7 April 2026 formally blessed three newly appointed bishops during a gathering of church leaders at Ngabezweni Royal Residence, marking a transition following the passing of their predecessors and urging them to strengthen and expand the work of the Church.

Bishop Nimrod Fakudze of St Job replaces the late Bishop Mngayi, Arch Bishop Steven Makhanya of Genezaret in Mankayane succeeds the late Arch Bishop Alfred Malinga, and Arch Bishop Sanele Tsela of Jerusalem CCAC takes over from the late Archbishop David Ngubeni. The three were presented before His Majesty King Mswati III during a farewell meeting held on, prior to their departure to their respective homesteads.

Speaking during the gathering, the King commended the late bishops for their dedication and service to the Church and the Gospel, saying their work laid a strong foundation for continued ministry. “The late bishops have worked very hard for the Church and the Gospel of God, and may the Lord bless them,” the King said.

His Majesty further emphasized that the newly appointed bishops are stepping into established and functional ministries, urging them to remain committed and to expand their efforts in spreading the word of God.

He encouraged the bishops to reach those who have not yet received Christ, calling on them to continue the mission of evangelism and spiritual guidance within their communities.

The King noted that the new leaders are fortunate to inherit churches that are already active and growing, stressing the importance of building on that foundation through diligence and faith.

The ceremony brought together church leaders from different congregations, reflecting a moment of unity and continuity within the country’s religious community, as leadership transitions were formally recognized and blessed at the highest level.
