Africa-Press – Eswatini. International Youth Fellowship (IYF) Country Director Rev. David Gang has encouraged young graduates to reject self-doubt and pursue bigger goals, saying their future depends on the environment they choose to place themselves in.

Speaking during the IYF Academy’s fourth intake graduation ceremony on Thursday, April 10, 2026, Rev. Gang told the 650 graduates that they should never see themselves as incapable, regardless of their background or present challenges.

Using the example of a koi fish, he said growth is often determined by one’s surroundings and mind-sets. He explained that just as the fish grows according to the size of its environment, young people can also unlock greater potential when they expose themselves to bigger dreams, opportunities and positive influences.

Rev. Gang said many young people limit themselves because of fear and negative thinking, yet each person already has the ability to succeed. He encouraged graduates to speak positively about their lives and remain focused on their goals, even when circumstances seem difficult.

Minister of Education and Training Owen Nxumalo also challenged graduates to use their newly acquired skills to become self-reliant and create opportunities for themselves and others. He said young people should consider entrepreneurship and continue sharpening their abilities in order to uplift their families and contribute meaningfully to national development.

Ministry of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Under Secretary Mzwandile Mthethwa said the graduation symbolised the birth of purpose among young people who had chosen discipline over destruction. He encouraged them to draw a clear blueprint for their future and pursue their goals as professionals, innovators and leaders.

The graduation ceremony celebrated the achievements of 650 students who completed training under the IYF Academy, with many already using their skills to earn income and improve their lives.

Also in attendance were representatives from International Youth Fellowship and KFC, who joined families and friends in celebrating the graduates’ achievements.

Rev. Gang said the true success of the graduates would be seen in how they transform their communities, create opportunities and inspire others through their skills, confidence and determination.
