Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) continues to promote fitness and teamwork through the National Commissioner’s Cup Games, with officers from all regions participating in a cross-country race at the Matsapha Police Academy on Wednesday.

The event featured 6km and 8km races for female and male participants respectively, with a challenging course that included obstacles and uneven terrain designed to test endurance and agility.

National Commissioner Manoma Vusi Masango officially flagged off the race and commended officers for their strong participation and discipline. He said the successful hosting of the event reflects the service’s commitment to maintaining high fitness standards and strengthening teamwork.

Masango also encouraged stakeholders to support local athletes, highlighting the potential within the police service to compete at international level.

The Commissioner’s Cup Games are aimed at promoting wellness, unity, and resilience among officers. The race attracted participants from different age groups, including veteran runners aged over 50, demonstrating inclusivity and a shared commitment to healthy living.

Professional athletes attended as guests, providing motivation to participants, while outstanding performers were recognised with medals.

Organisers said the cross-country race plays an important role in building physical endurance and mental strength, which are essential in policing duties. Officers showed strong camaraderie throughout the event, creating a positive and energetic atmosphere.

The Commissioner’s Cup Games continue to serve as a platform for promoting healthy lifestyles and enhancing performance within REPS.
