Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Minister of Information, Communication and Technology (ICT), Savannah Maziya, has hailed His Majesty King Mswati III’s innovative vision which led to the establishment of the Ministry of ICT in 2009.
The minister was extending hers and her portfolio’s congratulatory message to His Majesty the King’s 40-year reign and 58th birthday.
“On this momentous occasion, the ministry of ICT extends its heartfelt congratulations to His Majesty King Mswati III on his 58th birthday and 40 remarkable years of reign. We are celebrating a legacy, firmly rooted in peace, stability, and unity, which continues to guide the Kingdom of Eswatini,” she said.
Maziya added that His Majesty’s inspiring leadership has steered the remarkable evolution of Eswatini’s ICT landscape. This, she said, was from the days of a single telecommunications foundation in 1983, laying the foundation for telecommunications and postal services, to the introduction of internet services in 1998.
“This marked opening the kingdom to the digital world. This journey reflects an enduring vision. The growth from simple voice calls to today’s 4G connectivity, the digital evolution tells a story of transformation and progress, guided by purpose. With the establishment of the Ministry of ICT in 2009, that vision took even a stronger form, driving innovation, expanding access, creating opportunities to participate in the digital economy and bring government services closer to your people,” she said.
Through the government in your hand program (GIYH), Maziya said that story continues, bringing services closer, making life easier, and ensuring that Emaswati can access government services anytime, anywhere.
On behalf of the ministry, she took the opportunity to wish His Majesty the King continued strength, wisdom and good health as he lead the kingdom into an even brighter, more connected future.
The Ministry of Information, Communications and Technology was established by legal notice No. 25 of 2009 and is charged with twelve portfolio responsibilities as set out in Gazette No. 15 of 2009.
