Africa-Press – Eswatini. Senate President Lindiwe Dlamini has told global lawmakers that Eswatini remains committed to promoting peace, stability and good governance in Africa.

She made the remarks while leading Eswatini delegation to the 152nd Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly in Istanbul, Turkey, which runs from April 15 to 19.

Senate President is accompanied by Senator Chief Prince Mphatfwa Dlamini and Senator Lorraine Nxumalo.

The assembly has brought together parliamentarians from across the world to discuss peace, hope and building stronger institutions that will serve future generations.

Addressing the gathering, she said Eswatini was ready to play its role in strengthening peace on the continent.

She said African countries could also draw lessons from Eswatini’s Tinkhundla system, which promotes grassroots democracy and inclusive representation.

“The insights shared in this forum will directly enhance our legislative oversight and help us refine our Tinkhundla system, which means grassroots democracy, to ensure it remains a robust vehicle for inclusive representation,” she said.

Senator Lindiwe Dlamini said the lessons from the assembly would help Eswatini strengthen Parliament’s oversight role and improve service delivery.

She said learning from other nations would also help build stronger institutions and support good governance in the kingdom.

“By learning from the diverse experiences of our sister nations, eSwatini can further bolster its institutional capacity, ensuring that our Senate remains a steadfast pillar of peace and a reliable architect of the good governance envisioned in our Constitution,” she said.

The Senate President said the exchange of ideas at the global forum would help Eswatini build a stronger and more resilient nation.

She also expressed hope that the assembly would deliver practical solutions to urgent challenges facing Africa and the wider world.

The IPU Assembly is one of the world’s leading parliamentary platforms linked to the United Nations system, focusing on peace-building, human rights, sustainable development and international cooperation.

Eswatini’s participation highlights the country’s continued efforts to contribute to global dialogue while strengthening its democratic institutions at home.
