Africa-Press – Eswatini. A hard-fought 18-14 victory over Khalangilile saw Ngcoseni Shinning Stars crowned champions of the Manzini Region Netball Play-offs in Bhunya on Sunday, April 26, 2026 , after a closely contested final that kept spectators on the edge of their seats throughout the match.
The tournament brought together ten teams from across five zones in the Manzini Region, with clubs competing for top honours in the 2025–2026 regional play-offs, showcasing talent, teamwork, and determination on the court.
According to the Netball Eswatini Facebook page, Ngcoseni Shinning Stars emerged as the top performing team after a series of strong displays, ultimately overcoming Khalangilile in the final match to claim Position 1, while Khalangilile settled for second place.In the battle for third place, Warrior Queens delivered a solid performance to defeat Ladies Dream 17-12, securing Position 3 and rounding off the top four standings in the competition.
The regional play-offs featured teams from Mangcongco, Mpuluzi, Khuphuka, Mankayane, and Phondo zones, reflecting the depth and growth of netball across the Manzini Region. Matches played at Bhunya drew strong support, with teams displaying high levels of competitiveness and sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
Beyond Manzini, the momentum of netball development was also evident in other regions, with Gege All Stars emerging as champions of the Shiselweni Region Tinkhundla Netball Play-offs after securing Position 1. Nhlangano claimed second place, followed by Hlatikulu in third and Dinga in fourth, highlighting the growing competitiveness of the sport across the country.
Organisers noted that the play-offs provide a vital platform for talent identification and development, while strengthening competition among clubs at grassroots and regional level. The tournaments continue to play a key role in nurturing players and promoting women’s participation in sport.
