Africa-Press – Eswatini. THE country’s fastest man Sibusiso ‘Swazi Bolt’ Matsenjwa is targeting to reach the semi-finals during the 2022 world championships.
The Royal Eswatini Police Service sprinter said this ahead of his trip to the United States of America where he will be competing in the global track and field event for Oregon between July 15- 24.
“My main aim is to reach the semis and further maintain my momentum ahead of the Commonwealth Games. The event is going to be a tough assignment for me but I am ready for the challenge,” he said.
Matsenjwa will be accompanied by Eswatini Athletics Chief Operations Officer Thoba Mazibuko to the international assignments. The sprinter is one of the beneficiaries of the Eswatini Olympic and Common Wealth Games Association (EOCGA) scholarship programme for the 2024 Olympic Games.
He is the current 200m national record holder of 20.22,which he attained last year during the rescheduled 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.
The Siteki-born star is also part of the Team Eswatini that will compete in the Commonwealth Games slated for England before the end of the month. He recently represented the country in the African championships in Mauritius.
