Africa-Press – Eswatini. JOE Wright excelled in the PRO AM tournament, which marked the kick-off of the first edition of the inaugural FNB Sunshine Tour currently being staged at the Nkonyeni Golf Estate.
He won the longest drive prize in hole 14 and managed to win with a score of 80 points overall during the build-up of the inaugural competition which officially starts tomorrow at the same venue. The main event features local and international golfers. Wright said he was happy with his performance.
“I am pleased with my performance, which has drastically improved and I am now looking forward to the main tournament on Thursday where I will also give it my best shot,” he said.
Meanwhile, female category winner Futhi Dlamini was also pleased with her performance.
“I am impressed with my performance and I hope to do better during the main event on Thursday,” she said. FNB Eswatini Chief Executive Officer Dennis Mbingo said they were excited with the number of participants on the day.
“We were impressed with the proceedings of the build-up competition and we are looking forward to an exciting event,” he said.
