Africa-Press – Eswatini. Thabo Sibandze, the Mankayane street vendor who presented sweets to Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini during the recent King’s Birthday infrastructure tour, has received heavy duty driving lessons sponsorship.
Sibandze was selected by editor Zweli Martin Dlamini who received a call from a reputable Driving School Director who asked Dlamini to identify a needy person who will benefit from this generous sponsorship.
Worth-noting, this is the same Driving School where the editor learned how to drive and subsequently secured his heavy duty driver’s license in 2005, the Director of the Driving School asked to remain anonymous.
Accepting the sponsorship, Thabo Sibandze who dropped out of the University after struggling to secure scholarship, thanked the editor and the Driving School Director, he then expressed his desire to go back to the University should he secure scholarship or sponsorship.
“I am very grateful for this support loku bekuvele kusemcondvweni wami ngoba imphilo awuyati itawuhamba ikubeke kuphi. But I still wish to go back to the University and continue with my studies, nakukhona tihlobo letinye letikutsintsako ungikhumbule Nkhosi”, he said.

“A heavy duty driver’s license is a good back-up because you can even drive trucks, I also have one. We wish Sibandze success in his journey of life and we thank him for presenting the sweets to the Prime Minister because maybe we wouldn’t have noticed him. Even though the sponsorship did not come from the PM but, the sweets he presented to the Prime Minister attracted the attention of the media and he must take it in a positive way,” said the editor.
