Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Ministry of Public Service has officially launched the 44th Annual African Association for Public Administration and Management (AAPAM) Conference, which will be held from December 2 to 5, 2025, at Esibayeni Lodge in Matsapha.
The launch event took place at the Hilton Garden Inn in Mbabane.
The AAPAM Conference, a premier continental platform for public administration professionals, will bring together over 700 delegates from across Africa. The gathering will focus on fostering innovation, collaboration, and excellence in public service delivery.
Speaking during the launch, the Honourable Minister of Public Service, Mabulala Maseko, said the world is rapidly evolving, and there is a growing need for public institutions to adapt and serve citizens with excellence.
“The theme for this conference is ‘Agile Public Administration and Digital Transformation for Citizen-Centric Service Delivery,’” said Maseko. “Agility means more than speed. It requires institutional readiness, a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and the ability to adjust policies and processes as contexts shift. But agility cannot be attained in isolation.”
The Minister further highlighted that hosting the conference marks a significant milestone for the Kingdom of Eswatini, as it underscores the country’s commitment to advancing the agenda of promoting excellence in public administration across the continent.
“Over the past years, our Government has initiated several reforms such as Government In Your Hand, capacity-building initiatives, public-private partnerships, and open data policies,” Maseko said. “We are conscious of existing challenges and limitations, but such are not unique to Eswatini. That is why this upcoming conference offers a unique platform to learn, exchange, co-design, and commit.”
Secretary to Cabinet Victor Nxumalo said the conference theme reflects Eswatini’s national development priorities. “The theme ‘Agile Public Administration and Digital Transformation for Citizen-Centric Service Delivery’ aims to empower public administrators with innovative strategies and management skills to effectively serve the nation, thus contributing to socio-economic growth,” Nxumalo said. “It further reflects His Majesty’s Government’s priorities on excellence as outlined in the National Development Plan.”
The launch event was streamed live on the Ministry of Public Service’s Facebook and YouTube platforms, allowing development partners and stakeholders across the continent to participate virtually.
According to the Ministry, the upcoming conference will serve as a platform for collaboration among government agencies, the private sector, civil society, academia, and international development institutions to co-create solutions that advance public sector performance across Africa.
