Africa-Press – Eswatini. The World Health Organisation (WHO) Eswatini has brought together government officials, development partners, and health stakeholders for a Resource Mapping Workshop aimed at advancing the country’s health security.

The event, held today, follows the successful development and costing of Eswatini’s National Action Plan for Health Security (NAPHS).

During the official opening, WHO Representative Dr Susan Tembo praised the Kingdom’s commitment to health security. She said the NAPHS was developed through a “truly multisectoral process,” involving various ministries, departments, and agencies, alongside strong support from partners such as Africa CDC.

Dr Tembo highlighted that the workshop marks a key step in turning plans into action. “This exercise will help identify existing financial and technical resources, highlight gaps, and ensure efficient coordination among partners,” she said. She added that the NAPHS will also serve as a guide to mobilize both domestic and international support for Eswatini’s priority health security needs.

The WHO representative commended the government for its leadership throughout the NAPHS process, from initial consultations to the final costing of the plan. She emphasized that such ownership and coordination are essential for strengthening the country’s ability to prevent, detect, and respond to public health emergencies.

“Together, we are building a resilient health system that protects the well-being of every person in the Kingdom,” Dr Tembo said, acknowledging the dedication of all ministries, agencies, and partners involved.

The workshop is part of ongoing efforts to ensure that Eswatini is better prepared for future health challenges, with a focus on coordinated, sustainable, and effective health security interventions.
