Africa-Press – Eswatini. The International Trade Centre (ITC) has been named the recipient of the Trade Initiative of the Year Award by the Eswatini Investment Promotion Authority (EIPA), in recognition of its exceptional contribution to strengthening Eswatini’s export development and competitiveness.
The award was presented during a special handover ceremony held at the EIPA Head Office, where the Chief Executive Officer of EIPA, speaking on behalf of the institution, praised ITC’s longstanding partnership with Eswatini and its instrumental role in empowering small and medium enterprises (SMEs) through capacity building and trade facilitation initiatives.
The ceremony also marked the handover of certificates for the Training of Trainers Programme, which focused on ITC’s Market Analysis Tools, a targeted intervention aimed at equipping local trainers with essential trade analysis and market intelligence skills.
The recognition follows the success of the 4th Edition of the Eswatini National Exporter Awards (ENEXA), held on 3 September 2025 and graced by His Excellency, the Right Honourable Prime Minister, Mr. Russell Dlamini, who emphasised the nation’s goal of achieving E5 billion in exports by 2030.
EIPA CEO noted that the ENEXA Awards continue to highlight the importance of resilience and innovation in global trade. “Every successful export story is one of persistence—navigating challenges, meeting global standards, and embracing innovation. Through initiatives like these, we celebrate excellence and Eswatini’s growing export potential,” he said.
He further commended the ITC’s partnership under the Alliances for Action Eswatini Initiative, which promotes job creation, investment climate improvement, and regional integration under the SADC-EU Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) framework.
The CEO added that ITC, funded by the European Union, has played an indispensable role in connecting Eswatini’s products to international markets and empowering local artisans through initiatives such as the Indalo Exhibition, the Business One-Stop Shop (BOSS) Services Platform, and the Eswatini Investment Conference.
“ITC’s contribution, both technical and financial, cannot be overstated,” he said. “They have proven to be true champions of Eswatini’s export growth and a trusted partner in advancing sustainable trade.”
The event concluded with the formal handover of the Trade Initiative of the Year Award to ITC, recognising its unwavering support for Eswatini’s journey towards becoming a globally competitive export nation.
