Khumalo Expected to Defend Dlamini'S Criminals Agreement

Africa-Press – Eswatini. ”Even though Attorney General(AG) Sifiso Khumalo was against the United States agreement signed by Prime Minister Russell Dlamini that resulted in the dumping of dangerous criminals, he is highly expected to defend this decision in principle”, editor Zweli Martin Dlamini told the South African Broadcasting Corporation(SABC) Channel Africa radio on Monday afternoon.

The SABC wanted to know from the editor why the Attorney General did not file opposing court papers in the matter where the Swaziland Rural Women Assembly(SRWA) with financial support from the Southern African Litigation Centre(SALC), is challenging the dumping of the criminals.

The editor told the SABC that, the AG was against the agreement but as a Principal Government Legal Advisor, he might be forced to defend the State in principle as the Prime Minister signed the agreement on behalf of the State.

Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini allegedly signed the dumping of US criminals without involving Parliament, Cabinet and the Office of the AG, the Rural Women Assembly is challenging the agreement in court, citing the violation of the Constitution.

The matter has been postponed to next month to allow the Office of the AG to file opposing court papers.
