Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>Women MPs have welcomed new Siphofaneni MP Nomalungelo LaZwide Simelane into Parliament.<\/b><\/p>\n

This followed the new MP successfully running and winning the elections that took place over the weekend.<\/p>\n

Lubombo Region MP Lorraine Nxumalo congratulated LaZwide for winning the elections.<\/p>\n

She said she was happy that another woman had been elected into Parliament.<\/p>\n

\u201cHer winning the elections means we will have another woman in Parliament and for my region it means there are now two more women in the House. That is good news,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

She further mentioned that this meant that their issues would now be deliberated effectively since there were more women in Parliament.<\/p>\n

Nxumalo said that it was good that another woman had been included in a position of leadership, especially in Parliament.<\/p>\n

She said this was good news for women in Eswatini and further commended Siphofaneni constituents for trusting a woman to represent them in Parliament.<\/p>\n

The legislator said she was hopeful that the other constituents would learn from Siphofaneni residents that they could trust a woman.<\/p>\n

Nxumalo said they were hopeful that she would be committed towards developing the youth and women in the country so they regain financial stability.<\/p>\n

She said the COVID-19 pandemic has had a negative impact on all Emaswati especially women and young girls.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am confident that now that she is in Parliament, she would help amplify women\u2019s voices during the current term,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

She added that they would support her as a new member because she had to learn Parliament procedure and for her to be comfortable, she had to learn the ropes.<\/p>\n

Nxumalo said she would personally support her in her new role as a parliamentarian because she had to work more than them.<\/p>\n

She said she trusted that she would be committed to uplifting the people from her region and Eswatini as a whole because they were not just there for the Lubombo region but all Emaswati.<\/p>\n

Manzini South MP Thandi Nxumalo said she was excited to have the third woman elected by the people from the chiefdom and Siphofaneni Inkhundla.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs you can recall that Mafutseni MP Minister of Education and Training Lady Howard-Mabuza and myself were the only two women MPs elected during the national elections so she has made women believe that indeed Emaswati have realised that Lutsango can make an impact. Yes we can,\u201d she said<\/p>\n
