Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>The Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) has disclosed that there has been a decline in assets invested offshore.<\/b><\/p>\n

The FSRA Quarterly Statistical Bulletin for the first quarter of 2022 (Q1 2022) indicated that assets managed by capital markets entities are invested in terms of the Securities Act, 2010 in the domestic market, in the Common Monetary Area (CMA) and in offshore jurisdictions.<\/p>\n

The report states that in allocating the assets, collective investment schemes managers are guided by section 71(2) of the Securities Act, 2010.<\/p>\n

According to the report, the value of Assets Under Management (AUM) from Corporate Investment Scheme (CISs) was valued at E8.1 billion as of March 31.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese assets were invested as follows: 61 per cent in the domestic market; 32 per cent in the CMA region and seven per cent in offshore jurisdictions.<\/p>\n

Year on year comparison of the allocation indicates a minor shift across the jurisdictions with a four per cent increase in the domestic market and a three per cent decrease in the CMA and one per cent decrease in offshore markets.<\/p>\n

Quarter on quarter changes on the allocation of assets was within the range of plus or minus two per cent,\u201d the report reads.<\/p>\n

It was further mentioned that Assets Under Advisory (AUA) were valued at E23.8 billion and were invested as follows; 26 per cent in the domestic market, 55 per cent in the CMA region and 19 per cent in offshore jurisdictions.<\/p>\n

The report states that year on year comparison of the asset allocation indicates a shift towards investing more assets in the CMA.<\/p>\n

\u201cCompared to Q1 2021, there has been a 14 per cent decline in assets invested off shore while a 12 per cent increase in the CMA has been observed.<\/p>\n

Investments in the domestic market also showed a slight increase of two per cent over the period,\u201d the report reads. It was disclosed that industry wide, 50 per cent of capital markets assets are invested in the CMA, mainly in South African investment instruments, with 34 per cent invested in the domestic market and 16 per cent in offshore jurisdictions as at the end of Q12022.<\/p>\n
