Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>Eleven days before the start of the 2022\/23 football season, Moneni Pirates cannot register new players until they pay E90 000 in owed remuneration for former striker Laurent Abah.<\/b>
\nPirates announced their new Management Committee (MC) yesterday headed by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mhlonishwa Motsa and top of the issues is the owed money for the Cameroonian player.<\/p>\n

Following a decision of the Dispute Resolution Chamber, the claim of the claimant, Laurent Abah was accepted and the respondent, Moneni Pirates were ordered to pay Abah E90 000 outstanding remuneration dating from January 19, 2021 to June 1, 2021.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe respondent, Moneni Pirates FC, has to pay to the claimant, the amount of ZAR 90 000 as compensation for breach of contract plus five per cent interest per annum , from January 19, 2022 until the date of effective payment.<\/p>\n

\u201cPursuant to Article 24 of the Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players, if full payment (including all applicable interest) is not made within 45 days of notification of this decision, the respondent shall be banned from registering any new players, either nationally or internationally, up until the due amount is paid.<\/p>\n

The maximum duration of the ban shall be of up to three entire and consecutive registration periods,\u201d FIFA\u2019s Dispute Resolution Chamber wrote in its ruling. The decision was rendered without costs, wrote Emilio Garc\u00eda Silvero, the Chief Legal and Compliance Officer.<\/p>\n

Pirates made major changes in their structure ahead of the season after successfully registering the team as a company at the beginning of the year. The Buccaneers brought a fresh structure of shareholders which is expected to also accommodate the supporters in order to give them a voice at the top table of decision-makers within the team.<\/p>\n

The shareholders will include none executive members while executive members will constitute the Board of Directors headed by the chairperson. President of the team Osborne Nzima confirmed the structural changes and further announced the new Management Committee of the team.<\/p>\n

Gigi Reid will remain chairperson of the team and Mhlonishwa Motsa will head the MC as CEO. dragged Twoman Masuku and Sidumo Lukhele have retained the positions as manager and secretary general respectively, while Ndiphethe Dlamini has been posted as assistant manager.<\/p>\n

Sibusiso Nkambule has been moved from the position of public relations officer to marketing manager while Mbuso Hlophe has been named the new public relations manager to deal with the media.<\/p>\n

Thembinkosi Dlamini returns as finance manager while Terence Matse will occupy the newly created position of human resource manager. \u201cThe new Management Committee at Moneni Pirates hit the ground running and swiftly dealt with the thorny issue of former striker Laurant Abbah. Abbah reported the team to FIFA last season and the matter dragged until Pirates was issued with a letter demanding payment or face ban.<\/p>\n

They were given an ultimatum to file responding papers or be suspended from making any transfers for a period of three consecutive window periods,\u201d confirmed president Nzima. Nzima said the new MC dealt with the matter and they were waiting for formal invoices from FIFA to conclude the matter.<\/p>\n

He said the new MC had been in contact with FIFA and the local football structures on the issue and all was handled properly and there was nothing to be afraid of. He further stated that the preparations for the upcoming season were going well and the technical bench was at the top of their game. When reached, Abah said nothing has been received in his bank account as of yet.<\/p>\n
