Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>As students at Limkokwing University of Creative Technology (LUCT) start their examinations today, 22 students will not be able to sit for their examinations pending their disciplinary verdict.<\/b><\/p>\n

According to one of the affected students, Simemo Dlamini, they had already missed the opportunity to participate in any academic activities.<\/p>\n

Dlamini says even if they were not found guilty by the university for the allegations against them, they would have failed the semester and planned to take the matter to court.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe cannot escalate the matter any further without the verdict from the university but we do plan to take the issue to court as we know we are not guilty of anything and we have missed out on the entire semester. \u201d Dlamini said.<\/p>\n

Advice<\/b><\/p>\n

Dlamini said they were heeding their lawyers advice and waiting for the verdict which was over two weeks late.<\/p>\n

The students were suspended at the beginning of September.<\/p>\n

They were served with suspension letters and arred from all university activities because they incited students to boycott classes and participate in a protest.<\/p>\n

The letters state that the students had contravened the university\u2019s rules and regulations by causing disruptions to the smooth running of classes and the normal operations on August 24.<\/p>\n

Immediate<\/b><\/p>\n

\u201cYou are hereby suspended from the university with immediate effect pending a disciplinary hearing where the preferred charges against you and the date of the hearing will be communicated to you in writing,\u201d read the letter in part.<\/p>\n

It further informed the students to stay away from the university\u2019s premises and that they could not participate in any of the institution\u2019s activities during his suspension.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the event you do not adhere to the conditions of your suspension, please note that the university will seek other measures to enforce your suspension,\u201d reads the letter.<\/p>\n

When contacted regarding the issue, the university\u2019s Public Relations Officer Lucky Mathonsi said he was out of office and would reply to a questionnaire sent by this publication no later than today.<\/p>\n
