Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>His Majesty King Mswati III has assured the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) that Eswatini would work towards building more stadiums.<\/b><\/p>\n

The King said this during a courtesy call by the association\u2019s executive team last night at Lozitha Palace, wherein the president Arthur de Almeida e Silva made a request pertaining improving and adding onto the stadiums the country currently has.<\/p>\n

“We would like to bring more COSAFA tournaments to the country, especially the seniors one but that means Eswatini needs to construct more stadiums, which is where we need your support Your Majesty,” said e Silva, to which the king replied to affirmatively.<\/p>\n

“Definitely, you have my full support. That is something we will work on,” the king said in response.<\/p>\n

His Majesty also stated that he was pleased that the country was hosting the Under-20 tournament as this brought many advantages beyond the scope of football.<\/p>\n

Beyond<\/b><\/p>\n

“Football is a sport that unites people from all walks of life, but it also has many other advantages way beyond football,\u201d said the king.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor example, there are 12 teams currently competing in the ongoing tournament, which means our hospitality industry also benefits,\u201d the king added. He also expressed gratitude to the sponsors for their efforts and contributions in making the tournament a success.<\/p>\n

\u201cNothing is possible in sports without football so we appreciate all the sponsors,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n

The tournament\u2019s main sponsor is Inyatsi Construction who were represented by the Group\u2019s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Derrick Shiba, while Nedbank, who have also bankrolled the tourney, were represented by Head of Retail Khetsiwe Mdluli.<\/p>\n

The COSAFA president informed His Majesty that all the teams were enjoying their stay in the country and promised to promote the country\u2019s culture through the sport.<\/p>\n

\u201cEswatini has a rich history and an ever more beautiful culture and traditions and we believe football is the perfect tool that can be used to celebrate and promote it,\u201d said e Silva.<\/p>\n

Acting<\/b><\/p>\n

Also present during the event were Prime Minister Cleopas Dlamini, acting Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs David Ngcamphalala, Eswatini Football Association (EFA) President Peter \u2018Samora\u2019 Simelane alongside CEO Frederick Mngomezulu.<\/p>\n

The tournament has now reached the semi-final stages which will take place today at Somhlolo National Stadium, and ends on Sunday.<\/p>\n
