The modem is one of the most critical piece of networking hardware in your house that ensures you stay connected to our internet. If your modem stops working, you will not be able to be online. Your modem can last you longer if you take good care of it. It is sensitive to power surges, voltage fluctuations that may be due to lightening or electricity power outages when the power returns and power surges, which can occur unexpected. The general rule of thumb is to disconnect your modem whenever it is not in use. For example, during bedtime, leaving the house or the office.<\/p>\n

How to take care of your modem<\/b><\/p>\n

Of course, you may not always be home when there is a power outage, storm or lightening hits. Adding a surge protector or an uninterruptible power supply for your modem\u2019s power cord and phone lines may help shield your system from voltage spikes when you are not around to unplug things.
