Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>Mbabane Highlanders players have all the reason to smile after receiving E1 000 each as a winning bonus for Sunday\u2019s 1-0 derby victory over arch-rivals Mbabane Swallows.<\/b><\/p>\n

Flamboyant Highlanders Managing Director Chief Ally Kgomongwe yesterday paid the players the promised bonus as part of a set aside winning budget aptly named \u2018Ally\u2019s 2022 competition\u2019. Kgomongwe confirmed the payment of the winning bonuses to the players yesterday.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have a game we playing with the players called Ally\u2019s 2022 competition where certain games I pledged a winning bonus of E1 000 if they win and I deduct E500 if they lose. So yes I lost the bet as I have to pay the players E21 000 now, with each getting E1 000. This is all meant to motivate them. We started it in the game against Callies where I offered E1 000 to those who scored and the goalkeeper for keeping a clean sheet,\u201d Kgomongwe said. He said he would keep motivating the players as he wanted to end the club\u2019s 21-year wait for the league crown.<\/p>\n

\u201cRight now we rule Mbabane. We now own the Capital City as Mbabane Highlanders. I want to thank our supporters for the good behaviour and support. I also want to thank the Swallows and Wanderers fans for showing such a good sportsmanship. Some of them even took pictures with me, that\u2019s the spirit that should prevail in Eswatini football,\u201d Kgomongwe said. Kgomongwe said he is proud of his decision to fire coach Ernest Mavuso three days before the derby and bringing in former Sekhukhune United assistant coach Selaotse \u2018Sly\u2019 Mosala. \u201cPeople should know that as a Managing Director of Mbabane Highlanders, I take decisions with the best interest of the team at heart.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am proud of my decision to fire the coach because I was not happy with him. \u201cIt was the first time I saw Ndzabandzaba playing number six and the previous coach didn\u2019t want him together with other players like Mlaba and Cheese, but they are not going anywhere and they will contribute to our success,\u201d he noted. Kgomongwe said with the new coach, Mosala, already there is a proper programme for training and they are well on track to win the first round E200 000 incentive. \u201cI still say the bigger goal is to go to Africa but we also want to win the E200 000 first round incentive and make our supporters happy. \u201cUltimately, we want to win the league title and go to Africa. Highlanders is a big team and needs to play with the best from around the continent,\u201d he added. Highlanders ended almost six years without a league derby win with the last victory \u2013 a 2-1 win – having been attained on April 3, 2016 at Somhlolo National Stadium.<\/p>\n
