Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>A festival for members of the public to showcase their rich spiritual heritage has been launched<\/b><\/p>\n

Director of Imisibe Yetive Foundation Kholwaphi Dlamini launched the initiative dubbed Kukhanya Festival yesterday at Bethel Court in Ezulwini.<\/p>\n

Dlamini, speaking during the launch, said the festival was an initiative and a platform starting a conversation among the people.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis conversation is one that says \u2018we are a people with a rich spiritual heritage, people with a covenant with the Ancient of days Mvelinchanti so who is this God? The conversation says we were instructed to take the book, eat it and live.<\/p>\n

\u201cYoung people and other artists are encouraged to explore the Eswatini spiritual heritage and express their finding through songs and poems,\u201d explained Dlamini.<\/p>\n

She said artists were encouraged to write poems, songs of defferent genres for African dance, which is kutsamba (woman solo dance), kukosha (men Swazi group dance) and praise and worship based on the vision of Somhlolo but exploring more the spiritual heritage basing it on the book; the Bible.<\/p>\n

Entire<\/p>\n

\u201cKukhanya festival\u2019s intention is to reach the entire nation and people from all social classes. The initiative is aimed at reaching out to the learned and the illiterate, the rich and the poor, those living in urban and rural areas. The entire nation is the participator and the audience, the initiator,\u201d further narrated Dlamini.<\/p>\n

Perspective<\/p>\n

She added that the festival\u2019s approach was from the African perspective of narrating the African history through songs and dance.<\/p>\n

The launch was graced by Prince Jwabu who related how King Somhlolo left Emaswati a great legacy in the form of a prophecy that influenced the basis of the Swati life and philosophy.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe thank the Lord that has started this initiative as this proposal is from him.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe trust that the road to discovering more about this festival will be smooth and a never ending journey,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He further encouraged the youth to explore the country\u2019s spiritual heritage and see how it can be best used through the initiative.<\/p>\n
