Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>Long-serving PUDEMO member Mphandlana Shongwe says religious platforms should not be used to discuss political problems.<\/b><\/p>\n

PUDEMO is the People\u2019s United Democratic Movement. Shongwe said the Bible and religious prophesies should not be used to justify abuse of human rights. He was responding to the social media criticism and threats against Hosana Outreach Ministries Church\u2019s Apostle Madudu Mabuza. Shongwe was asked if quoting the scripture should amount to criticism and threats as it happened with Mabuza.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is a pity that I did not listen to the apostle\u2019s sermon but I only saw it in the newspaper which I have not read yet. But my take would be that, religious platforms should not be used to discuss political problems. I heard that our efforts in the struggle were referred to as a wave that shall pass soon. If that is true, it is an insult to our 39 years of struggle against Tinkhundla System of Government. No one has the right to stand before Their Majesties and call our struggle a wave,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Shongwe stated that as political formations, they also worshipped the same God with the Tinkhundla System of Government. \u201cWe shall continue praying and we shall see whose prayers will be answered. The wave will continue instead of passing,\u201d he said. SWALIMO Public Relations Officer Thantaza Silolo said the organisation had no comment on the subject. Silolo had been asked the same question as Shongwe.<\/p>\n
