Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>ESWATINI could inherit one of Qatar\u2019s world class stadiums presently hosting the FIFA World Cup games, the 974 Stadium in Doha.<\/b><\/p>\n

This is after the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) reportedly submitted requests to become of the beneficiaries of the dismountable stadium which can be disassembled and shipped into the country after the global showpiece.<\/p>\n

The EFA executive submitted the application to the Qatar Embassy at Ezulwini, according to reports by South African publication (Soccer Laduma).<\/p>\n

The Qataris plan on donating the temporary stadiums to developing countries since many of them will not be used after the global showpiece.<\/p>\n

The venue Eswatini is crossing fingers on has a capacity to host 40 000 spectators, and the exciting news come at a time when the country just recently got a temporal approval to host international matches at Somhlolo National Stadium.<\/p>\n

This was after refurbishments which cost about E30 million, which were initiated in response to the two-year ban from CAF as the stadium was deemed not meeting international requirements.<\/p>\n

This saw Eswatini being one of the 23 African countries hosting international matches out of their land, but the venue was eventually approved after an intervention by Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Harries Bulunga.<\/p>\n

Reached on the Qatar stadium issue, Bulunga said; \u201cCan I please not to comment because I am not aware of the application, government is not involved.\u201d Meanwhile, Eswatini Football Association marketing and communications officer Muzi Radebe said he was yet to learn about the news.<\/p>\n

\u201cNothing has reached my office so far concerning the matter you are talking about,\u201d he said. EFA President Peter \u2018Samora\u2019 Simelane recently attended the opening ceremony of the ongoing world cup alongside vice-President Mark Carmichael and CEO Frederick Mngomezulu.<\/p>\n
