There was pandemonium at the end of Mbabane Highlanders and Sea Birds match at the Mavuso Sports Centre yesterday.<\/p>\n

This was during the MTN Premier League match which ended at 2-1 scoreline in favour of \u2018Izinyoni zolwandle\u2019.<\/p>\n

Mbabane Highlanders fans protested violently, baying for the blood of referee Mbongeni Shongwe after they believed he allowed a \u2018hand goal\u2019 by Sea Birds striker Sandamuzi Zwane.<\/p>\n

Soon after the match, the fans invaded the pitch with some charging towards the referee, who was eventually escorted out of the stadium by police officers for fear of being harmed by the agitated supporters.<\/p>\n

Police had a tough time trying to disperse the Highlanders fans as they fired teargas and gunshots.<\/p>\n

Chants of \u2018uyasidlisa lona\u2019 reverberated through the stadium while the game was still proceeding and when the referee ended the game, fans\u2019 frustrations and anger escalated, with the mob wanting to \u2018eat the referee alive\u2019.<\/p>\n

Some of the fans hurled insults at the referee. Some words uttered by fans are unprintable.<\/p>\n

Some Highlanders officials tried their best to calm the incensed supporters, but they would have none of it.<\/p>\n

The fans were waiting outside supposedly for the referee, causing havoc as they were throwing stones at the stadium entry points and they said they were not going anywhere until Shongwe came out and explained to them why he came up with a decision that awarded the goal.<\/p>\n

Outside they continued singing and shouting but the referee was nowhere around.<\/p>\n

reports suggested that he was whisked out of the venue in a police van.<\/p>\n

Coming to the match, Highlanders drew first blood three minutes into the second half through Kenneth Moloto\u2019s penalty.<\/p>\n

However, Sea birds levelled matters four minutes later through Mthokozisi Gwebu, who finished off a Sinethemba Dlamini\u2019s low cross.<\/p>\n

They then sealed the victory in the 79th minute through a Sandumuzi Zwane controversial header, in what the supporters claimed looked like the \u2018hand of god\u2019 goal from the seasoned lanky forward.<\/p>\n
