Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>ESWATINI Independent Film and Television Producers Association (EIFTPA) is calling its members to an urgent meeting scheduled for tomorrow at the Alliance Fran\u00e7aise de Mbabane.<\/p>\n

The association\u2019s Executive Director Nhlanhla Zwane, urged the association\u2019s affiliates to attend the meeting.
\nHe said there were urgent matters which they needed to address.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe purpose of the meeting is to give a progress report that needs urgent attention of the content creators, including those who have been commissioned or licensed their TV programmes with Eswatini TV,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Zwane said the meeting would commence at 10am, adding that it was important for members to keep time.
\n\u201cWe want to discuss all the matters and issues the association is facing,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He said that it was the association\u2019s mandate to have meetings in order to nurture and improve the skills of content creators in the film and television industry.
\n\u201cWe also have a mandate to help producers acquire the means and empowerment they need to be professionally organised, productive, and internationally competitive.<\/p>\n

We also need to assist in the creation, development of markets and opportunities for the services and products offered by film and TV producers,\u201d he added.
\nHe said as an association they prided themselves on having successfully lobbied and negotiated with government especially their line ministry(ICT), for the enactment and implementation of laws that regulate their industry.<\/p>\n

He said they were able to make regulations, agreements and other initiatives that helped to eliminate the exploitation of TV content creators and ensuring that the film and TV sector was adequately empowered and rewarding.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs we speak, government has put in place favourable policies that empower the establishment of TV industry regulatory bodies such as the Eswatini Communication Commission. This body plays a critical role in ensuring, monitoring allocation of local content quota for Eswatini TV.<\/p>\n

They also ensured the setting up of local content commissioning programmes from independent content creators such as our Eswatini independent film and television producers,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

He also noted that the organisation was open to both Emaswati and foreigners who were in the field of local content creation to join.<\/p>\n
