Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>Sibusiso Nhlabatsi, a highly regarded human rights in eSwatini has urged Government to investigate allegations suggesting that State linked mercenaries are killing civilians.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking on Monday, the human rights lawyer said these allegations should be taken seriously by Government to protect civilians.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is the State that should protect civilians and it\u2019s worrying if there are mercenaries alleged to be hired by the State. The State should arrest citizens if they are suspected of committing a crime not to hire mercenaries to kill them,\u201dsaid the human rights lawyer.<\/p>\n

A questionnaire was sent to Government Spokesperson Alpheous Nxumalo,however,he had not responded at the time of compiling this report.<\/p>\n

On another note,the human rights lawyer said it was the police who were expected to arrest suspects and if they experienced challenges, they should seek assistance from the army and Correctional Services not to hire mercenaries.<\/p>\n
