Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>Youth Nhleko, the Project Manager at the Eswatini Antivenom Foundation says the country has recorded six(6)deaths from snake bites since beginning of the year.<\/b><\/p>\n

Senator Lizzie Nkosi, the Minister of Health had earlier warned the Nation to be extra cautious during the snake bite season since the country relied on South Africa for antivenom and the stocks were very low.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe most common antivenom is for the spitting cobra (imfeti),The whole SADC region relies on South Africa for the antivenom.We should take into account that manufacturing these antivenoms is a difficult and long process. We urge Swazis to exercise caution at all times in this snake bite season,\u201dsaid the Health Minister when speaking to press earlier.<\/p>\n

On another note,Youth Nhleko,the Eswatini Antivenom Foundation Project Manager warned emaSwati not to kill the snakes upon sight but should instead call their volunteers or the Fire Emergency team for assistance.<\/p>\n

“Snakes are very dangerous during the warmer seasons,especially in the summer, they become more dangerous and unpredictable.They are out hunting and gathering food to store for the winter. People must be aware,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
