Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>Former South Africa\u2019s Public Protector Professor Thulie Madonsela says human rights lawyer Thulani Maseko was assassinated for assisting the people of eSwatini in resisting oppression.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking on Tuesday, the former Public Protector said the assassination of the renowned eSwatini human rights lawyer and democracy activist left the global human rights and democracy communities shocked to the core.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs he predicted in his speech at the Oslo Freedom Forum,Thulani Maseko did pay the ultimate price for his people\u2019s freedom.As for the rest of us,I believe as,William Wilberforce said after the truth about chattel slavery was laid bare to leaders of the time,that now that we know, we can never say we did not know,\u201d said the former Public Protector.<\/p>\n

But Government Spokesperson Alpheous Nxumalo warned against what he described as speculations and insinuations peddled on social media platforms in instances like these.<\/p>\n

In a public statement released on Sunday, Nxumalo said Government disassociates herself and the country\u2019s authorities from such heinous acts.<\/p>\n

On another note, King Mswati\u2019s \u2018chief mercenary\u2019 Arnold Pienaar,the founder of Bastion Security being a company that provides mercenary services to King Mswati has come-out to confirm that they have a list of \u2018terrorists\u2019 to be killed, but denied that the human rights lawyer was part of the list.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was no reason to kill him, he was not on our list of terrorists,\u201d he said as quoted by the Times of London.<\/p>\n
