Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>Incoming US Embassy Charge\u0301 d\u2019affaires Earl Miller has urged the nation to honour the late Thulani Maseko by engaging in peaceful dialogue, which the late human rights lawyer was a fervent supporter of.<\/b><\/p>\n

\u201cHe fought passionately for non-violence advocacy and reforms and also advocated for the rule of law, governance, and justice during his lifetime. Honour Thulani by engaging in peaceful talks,\u201d said Miller.<\/p>\n

The Diplomat went on to describe Maseko as a powerful visionary leader who raised his voice for positive change and laid the path for non-violent solutions to differences.<\/p>\n

He stated that he knew Maseko to be a principled, dedicated, and zealous person, and said he was filled with distress at his passing as a father of two sons himself.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis death is therefore deeply saddening and I extend my sincere condolences to the Maseko family and loved ones on behalf of the people of the United States of America,\u201d he stated. Maseko was shot dead last week and was laid to rest on Sunday at KaLuhleko.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile the Embassy announced last week Friday that incoming Charge\u0301 d\u2019Affaires Earl Miller, will hold the fort until an Ambassador is appointed.<\/p>\n

Miller, a retired career member of the US Senior Foreign Service served as US Ambassador to Bangladesh from 2018 to 2022. He served as US Ambassador to Botswana and US Representative to the Southern African Development Community (SADC) from 2014 to 2018.<\/p>\n
