Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>The alarming numbers of alcohol consumption amongst the youth are a cause for concern for everyone.<\/b><\/p>\n

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has expressed great concern about the numbers of teenagers, especially girls who indulge in alcoholic beverages.<\/p>\n

Because of this concern, the WHO will host a campaign that will teach teenagers about the dangers of alcohol consumption.<\/p>\n

WHO Eswatini Health Promotion Officer Dr. Kevin Makadzange revealed that there was a noted increase in alcohol consumption, especially with girls.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is not a problem affecting Eswatini only but the whole African continent. There is a noted increase in alcohol consumption, especially with girls which is all very worrying.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is the reason why we will embark on this campaign which seeks to teach about the dangers of alcohol. When alcohol is reduced, other non-communicable diseases such as High Blood Pressure, cancers, liver and pancreas damage not to mention other endless medical conditions related to alcohol abuse,\u201d said Makadzange.<\/p>\n

In 2016 after a similar survey was conducted, it was reported that:<\/p>\n

25 percent of people drink beer<\/p>\n

16 percent people drink wine<\/p>\n

59 percent consume other type of alcohol (spirits, other, all)<\/p>\n
