Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>emale University students were denied entry by the police at the Manzini Magistrates Courts on Wednesday merely for wearing pants.<\/p>\n

The students were at the Manzini Magistrates Court to support their President Colani Maseko who appeared for a remand hearing, Maseko who is highly critical of King Mswati was charged with Sedition and malicious damage to property.<\/p>\n

Reached for comments, Cebile Dlamini,the Secretary General of the Swaziland Rural Women Assembly (SRWA) said women continued to be victims of abuse.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe courts should ensure that our rights as women are respected”, said the Rural Women Assembly Secretary General.<\/p>\n

One of the affected students revealed that they were in a group of ten (10) when the police told them they were not allowed to inside the court because they were wearing pants.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe didn’t like it because it’s within our rights to wear what we want, even in court\u201d, said the student.<\/p>\n

Police Spokesperson Phindile Vilakati had not responded at the time of compiling this report.<\/p>\n

Reached for comments, Wakhile Lukhele, the Secretary General of the Swaziland National Union of Students(SNUS) said he was at the Magistrates Court when the students were denied entry by the police.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe police told them they were not allowed inside court because they were wearing pants\u201d, said the Secretary General.<\/p>\n
