Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>Malavi Sihlongonyane, the Kukhanyeni Inkhundla Member of Parliament(MP)allegedly became a victim of his empty promises to fix damaged roads at Kukhanyeni, his car was stuck on the muddy road amid heavy rains.<\/b><\/p>\n

It has been disclosed that on Wednesday 15th February, the MP’s car, a Toyota Prado (SUV)got stuck on the muddy road at Kukhanyeni and was forced to turn back.<\/p>\n

Sakhile Awuviva Nxumalo, the President of the Swaziland Youth Congress (SWAYOCO) who is also a resident of the area said the MP has become a victim of his own.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn 2018 during the Tinkhundla elections campaign, the MP became very strategic and allegedly borrowed heavy plant machinery from his brother and fooled the people of Kukhanyeni into voting for him by promising good road infrastructure.<\/p>\n

Surprisingly, he did nothing as per his promises,\u201dsaid the SWAYOCO President.<\/p>\n

Efforts to reach the MP for comments proved futile at the time of compiling this report.<\/p>\n

But Muzi Dlamini, a resident of Kukhanyeni confirmed that the MP was part of the people that were stuck in the muddy road last Wednesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome residents were forced to walk for over 10 kilometres after being dumped by a bus due to the bad state of the road. The residents were also lucky to witness the MPs car stuck in the muddy road and eventually turning back”,he said.<\/p>\n

Reached for comments,Alpheous Nxumalo, the Government Spokesperson said there were plans to rehabilitate the damaged roads as soon as the rains were over.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe affected communities shall be engaged to provide assistance.However, it is still important to inform members of the public that since the rains continue unabated, some roads may remain in the same bad shape that they are in for sometime\u201d,said the Government Spokesperson.<\/p>\n
