Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>The National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) has enlisted Deloitte and Touche SA as the best-evaluated tenderer.<\/b><\/p>\n

Deloitte and Touche SA is a South African-based firm that specialises in audit, consulting, financial advisory, risk advisory, and Tax related matters. As the procuring entity, NDMA wants to implement a whistle-blowing system and they issued a Request For Proposal (RFP) which only two companies responded to. SNG Grant Thornton was the only local company that responded and according to the analysis by NDMA, they were not responsive when evaluated.<\/p>\n

Evaluation<\/b><\/p>\n

Deloitte and Touche SA scored 95 points when evaluated, their price was E244 997.61, it should be noted that the evaluated price for SNG Grant Thornton was not revealed. The above-mentioned was published by the procurement regulating authority, the Eswatini Public Procurement Regulatory Agency (ESPPRA) on their website. The intention to award the company was published on Friday and if not contested, they are expected to begin executing it after 10 working days. As the requesting entity, NDMA was also in charge of the procuring of the tender as well as its approvals. NDMA requested unsuccessful bidders to apply for review with the agency within 10 working days. \u201cAll tenderers who submitted bids are hereby notified that a period of 10 working days is hereby allowed for submission of any application for review,\u201d said NDMA.<\/p>\n

Solution<\/b><\/p>\n

Worth noting, NDMA, in collaboration with Water Aid Eswatini has provided a long-term solution to water scarcity for 174 households by constructing three solar-powered boreholes worth E1.2 million. NDMA Communications Manager Wandile Mavuso said the construction of the solar-powered boreholes would benefit a total of over 1 200 people under the Mayiwane Constituency, in the Hhohho Region. He noted that the project came about through the Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) component of India, Brazil and South Africa (IBSA) which was managed by NDMA. He said the solar-powered boreholes were constructed at Mangenge in the Hhohho Region, where 61 households benefitted; at Moyeni 81 households were assisted as well as Masheleleni where 32 households also benefitted.<\/p>\n

Scheme<\/b><\/p>\n

The Mangenge Scheme also benefitted two schools, Baleni primary school (214 pupils and 11 teachers) and Mcuba Primary School (160 pupils and 12 teachers). Mavuso highlighted that for over 25 years, residents of Mashelelelni, Mangenge, and Moyeni had been consuming unclean water which they shared with livestock. He said waterborne diseases became a norm, and diarrhoea was prevalent in the area before the construction of the solar-powered boreholes.<\/p>\n
