Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span> AFTER the launch of the National Youth Policy in 2020, government and its partners have sprung into action to review the development of the operational plan of the policy.<\/p>\n

The ministry of sports, culture and youth affairs is hosting a workshop, where the operational plan of the national youth policy will be discussed in detail.<\/p>\n

The workshop held at the Pigg\u2019s Peak Hotel was officially opened by Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Harries Bulunga on Monday. In his address, Bulunga said the operational plan and its implementation would ultimately decide the fate of the National Youth Policy 2020.<\/p>\n

He said it was this operational plan that would decide whether the policy has the desired impact on the lives of young people or if it would prove to be another one of those documents that gather dust in offices and fade from memory almost as soon as they are launched.<\/p>\n

The minister stated that the workshop was very important and it aligned itself with government\u2019s commitment to putting the youth firmly in the centre of the search for sustainable solutions to the challenges they face. Bulunga said it was in the same speech where His Majesty King Mswati III made the call to, \u201caccelerate efforts to continue creating an enabling empowerment environment for the youth\u2019s innovation and creativity to flourish.\u201d<\/p>\n

He thanked all partners, including UNPFA, Youth Enterprise Revolving Fund, Eswatini National Youth Council and the various ministries, for the cooperation.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile UNPFA Head of office representative Dr. Bongani Dlamini said the organisation noted that gender-based violence and unemployment were ravaging the country\u2019s youth, hence the need for operationalising the national youth policy. He said the youth policy would create a comprehensive environment for programmes that would support young people of the country.<\/p>\n

Dlamini stated that the policy would also assist the ministry and its partners to measure the work done in terms of delivering youth services going forward. He concluded by assuring UNFPA\u2019s commitment to supporting government in all its programmes that sought to promote youth programmes and development.<\/p>\n
